Safe Church Policy

“Community Congregational Church of Chula Vista (CCCCV) is a vibrant and loving faith community where we celebrate freedom, inclusion, and diversity of belief and recognize love as the creative and supporting force in life. We practice the statement of the United Church of Christ, that “whoever you are or wherever you are on the journey, you are welcome here.” Our congregation is committed to creating a sanctuary, or a safe environment, for the children, youth and adults who gather in our midst and in our buildings. It is up to each of us who worships, learns, works, volunteers or socializes at CCCCV to create a community that is free of discrimination, harassment, exploitation, intimidation, interpersonal violence, and all forms of abuse, so that those who are wounded can heal, and we all can be fully alive individually and as a church.

In particular, it is the policy of Community Congregational Church to be an abuse-free zone that safeguards all, including children, youth and vulnerable individuals – older adults and those with physical or cognitive limitations. This policy will be in effect when and wherever children, youth and vulnerable individuals are involved in a congregational activity on or off premises or activities led by others on our premises.”

The above paragraphs are from the Safe Church Policy that took effect in 2018 by Church Council approval.

Included in the policy is the creation of the Safe Church Team, whose members at this time are Jerry May, Rev. Victoria Freiheit, Nathan Purificacion and Violeta Estepa. Please advise one of these folks if you see or learn about an unsafe situation as described above. A copy of the full policy is in the church office.
